Procedure for Flood Assistance

As a result of the recent storm of 12/18/2023, there is a procedure that is followed to determine damages and assistance availability.  The State will collect data regarding the damage that occurred town by town and county by county.  It takes some time to make this assessment especially with widespread damage of different levels.   If the total State figure is high enough, the Governor can then declare a disaster and seek federal help.  This process will take awhile and it’s always unclear whether private property will be covered.  The town is and will continue to do whatever is necessary to get the maximum amount of state and federal aid possible.  Fees for bona fide flood damaged items taken to the transfer station will be waived for the next couple of weeks but proof of property location may be required.

NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management has stated the following:  If the storm damaged your home or business, you could be eligible for assistance. If your home is your primary residence, and you sustained damage, please contact representatives at 211 or 1-866-444-4211 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday-Friday to fill out a damage report.

Do You Own a Dog?

Did you know that dogs must be registered with the Town Clerk by April 1st of each year? Under NH RSA 466:1 Procuring License; Tag. – Every owner or keeper of a dog 4 months old or over shall annually, cause it to be registered, numbered, described, and licensed for one year in the office of the clerk of the town in which the dog is kept, and shall cause it to wear around its neck a collar to which shall be attached a metal tag with the following information thereon: the name of the city or town, year of issue of license and its registered number. The tag and license shall be furnished by the clerk at the expense of the town. Regardless of when the license is obtained, the license shall be effective from May 1 of each year to April 30 of the subsequent year. You must show a current rabies certificate and the fees are $6.50 for spayed/neutered dogs, $9.00 for unspayed/unneutered, and $2.00 if the owner is over 65 yrs. old.
